…says his chairmanship will correct Buhari’s impression on ‘lazy youth’
Ahead of National convention of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), party elders and leaders have been urged to mobilise massively for the outgoing deputy National Publicity Secretary of the party, Timi Frank to become National chairman of the party.
The newly formed pro-democracy group under the auspices of Young Men in Politics (YMP) made this appeal during weekend in a statement jointly signed by its Chairman and Secretary, Olalekan Daniel and Mamunat Muhammed respectively.
The statement partly read, “We are of the strong view that Timi Frank’s chairmanship will correct the impression that President Buhari-led APC government does not believe in young Nigerians, hence our appeal to all the leaders of the ruling party to openly express support for our brother and colleague, Timi Frank.”
It will be recalled that the Bayelsa-born politician had last week publicly declared to contest for the chairmanship position of the party following the party’s resolution to retain the position for South-South region of the country.
The group that has all its members across all political platforms, however, said it will volunteer to purchase nomination form for Timi Frank and vigorously mobilise delegates for his emergence as the next National chairman of the party during May 14 national convention.
It cited an example of young President Macron in France, leader of ruling party in South-Africa, Melama and National Chairman of ruling party in Kenya, and urged President Muhammadu Buhari and other National leaders of APC to give a young man a chance to reposition the party.
