Boko Haram: Nigeria seeks China’s support

The Federal Government and the Peoples Republic of China have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the Chinese to assist the Armed Forces of Nigeria in strengthening their counter-insurgency capabilities.

Minister of Defense, Brig. Gen. Mansur Dan-Ali (Retd) signed the document on behalf of the Nigerian Government to the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Dr. Ziyou Pingjian signed on behalf of the Chinese at a short ceremony held in Abuja, on Thursday.

This disclosure was contained in a  statement signed by the Public Relations Officer to the Minister, Colonel Tukur Gusau.

The statement partly read, “The signing of the MoU was a follow up to the visit of President Muhammadu Buhari to China in September 2018 were discussions on infrastructure financing for strategic projects and gratis for the Armed Forces was held with the Chinese President Mr. Xi Jinping.”
