Children Day: I’ll invest in 3000 students, says Osun monarch

The popular Osun state monarch and Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Adewale Akanbi, has said he will not rescind his decision in the investment on over 3000 students in his domain.

Oba Akanbi stated this in his palace during weekend when he hosted over 3,000 students as part of the activities to mark the 3rd edition of Children’s Day celebration for 2018.

According to him, “Children if taken care of, will be presentable ambassadors tomorrow that will make me, family and city proud,” adding that his primary investment is committing his resources in children whom are glories of  tomorrow.

The monarch recalled all what he went through at his tender age, admonishing the children and youths in the country not to relent in pursuing their goals.

“I only knew I would be a king, the means, I couldn’t say. Though, I never doubted God. I was nobody but so optimistic with my commitment to the dream to be somebody.

“I was one of the contestants with lowest connection. God used his power, granted my struggle and crowned me as Oluwo.

“You can as well make an omelette. It is doable. Don’t allow your background to put your back on the ground. Face your studies and be of good conduct.

“Be known for something positive and be consistent with it. Those are the tools to greatness, not the millions your parents have in their bank account,” he said.

Meanwhile, sponsors of the annual Children’s Day, however, commended the monarch for his initiatives to make life bearable for younger ones.

One of the sponsors and member, house of representatives from the constituency, Gafar Akintayo said, “the initiative of Oluwo is always brilliant and helpful to the government.”

Other sponsors of the programme include: Vice-Chancellor of Bowen University, Prof. Mathew Ojo; An Abuja-based Media Entrepreneur, Mallam Olawale Rasheed; Asiwaju Odo of Iwoland, Prof. Tola Alamu; Waziri of Yorubaland, Sheik Yahqub Abdulbaaqi; APC governorship aspirant, Engr Ayoade Lawal; all Chiefs led by the Oosa of Iwo, Chief Yekinni Orobimpe and Princes, led by Aremo Adelani Akanbi.
