Confusion Hits Kano PDP
Few days to the state elections, the Kano chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party is in turmoil following this morning court ruling reacing the governorship candidate of the party.
A federal high court in Kano, had today nullified the primary election that led to emergence of People’s Democratic Party gubernatorial candidate in Kano, Abba Yusuf.
The judge, Lewis Allagoa, ruled that the party did not conduct governorship primary election in Kano, and declared the candidature of Mr Yusuf null and void.
A PDP gubernatorial aspirant, Ali Amin-little, had approached the court, challenging the process that led to emergence of Mr Yusuf as PDP gubernatorial candidate in Kano.
The ruling had put Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso in deep dilemma as Alhaji Amin-Little is an arch rival of the Kano state governor.Little and others had faulted the handing over of the party structures and tickets to Kwankwaso after his defection to the PDP.
while Alhaji Little is a very popular politician in Kano ,his candidature is not going to enjoy the support of the Kwankwasiya movement ,a group considered very formidable in the state. There are also fears that Little may trade the party ticket with Governor Ganduje ,thereby foreclosing any hope of PDP good showing next Saturday.
