Candidate of Action Democratic Party July 14th gubernatorial election in Ekiti State, Otunba Segun Adewale on Tuesday paid call on the Oluyin of Iyin-Ekiti, HRM Oba Ademola Ajakaiye, where he was showered prayers by the monarch.
Adewale, who is seeking Ekiti coveted seat on the platform of the was at the palace of the monarch as part of his scheduled visitation to all the socio-political and traditional rulers in the state.
Adewale’s appearance at Oluyin’s palace sparked jubilation among supporters and residents of the community, who thronged en masse out to the palace.
For several minutes delegation of Adewale were left in amazement with the out-pour of loves and supports thrown at them by the people and eventually got their way into the monarch’s palace, where the ADP candidate discussed his aspiration with Oba Ajakaiye.
He told the monarch that his visit was to intimate him of his gubernatorial aspiration and sought the traditional ruler royal blessings to achieve success.
At the event which has chiefs and some subjects of the town in attendance, Adewale reeled out his programmes for the people of the state, declaring that “I’m on a mission of restoration and building a prosperous Ekiti state.”
In his welcome speech, HRH, Oba Ademola Ajakaiye who could not hide his joy at the visit of Adewale, told the delegation that he has heard of the numerous philanthropic gestures of the governorship hopeful in the state and beyond.
Apparently admitting the huge support base for the aspiration of Adewale, the monarch noted the long anticipation of people of the town to meet him (Adewale), adding that many of the people of the community have said great things about him.
Though, he conceded the power to install leader, including Ekiti governor to God, Oba Ajakaiye, however, observed that the (Ekiti) state needs a more competent hands to salvage it, believing that the voters will act right to choose who will bring them out of the ravaging poverty.
Responding to the monarch, Adewale who extolled Oba Ajakaiye for the progress Iyin-Ekiti has experienced since he assumed the throne of his forebearer, shared with the King the progress he has made so far since lunching his bid for the governorship seat.
Adewale also informed the monarch on how the oppositions have been spreading falsehood about him to the populace– a situation Oba Ademola said is normal because of his soaring popularity, advising him not to lose focus but must continue to engage the people with his manifesto.
Oba Ademola who was accompanied by his wife and palace chiefs prayed for Adewale and his party, ADP, adding that they will continue to pray for him because he is a good man who strives to deliver the desired leadership for the people of the state.
