The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has disagreed with the aspirants contesting to get the governorship ticket on the platform on the new date to hold primary election.
While the aspirants at their meeting held on Wednesday at the national secretariat of the party in Abuja said the party should reschedule the new date for Sunday, May 13, the party has now scheduled it for Saturday, May 12, 2018.
One of the aspirants, Ajayi Olowo who briefed newsmen after their meeting said all aspirants have agreed to have the exercise on Sunday.
But the party, in a statement to signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi and made available to journalists on Thursday said the election will hold on Saturday.
The two-paragraph statement said, “The All Progressives Congress (APC) has rescheduled the Ekiti governorship primary election for Saturday May 12, 2018. Time: 8am prompt.
“This followed consultation between the APC National Working Committee (NWC), aspirants and other stakeholders.”
