Violence that marred the ward congresses of All Progressives Congress, (APC) in Rivers state has been strongly condemned by a non-governmental organization under the auspices of Peace Builders in Oil Producing Communities of Niger Delta region (PBOPCND).
It would be recalled that the ward congresses of APC that held on May 5, 2018 had led to vandalisation of valuable properties at the state chapter of the secretariat.
The group also condemned the kidnapped of Agip oil workers in Bayelsa State during the week, and called for immediate release of the captives to enable them unite with their families again.
The group, in a statement signed by his National President, Mr. Wisdom Fiobotei and made available to newsmen in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital blamed some political gladiators of the party in the South South region.
It slammed political actors who was trying to hijack the electoral processes to advance their political ambition, describing the act as unacceptable, undemocratic and show a sign of desperation to forcefully acquire political power, in the state.
Fiobotei called on the leadership of the party and its followers to play in accordance with the democratic principles to ensure free, fair and credible ward congresses and elections across the state.
He also called on the security agencies to always carry out their constitutional duties and not to be used as an instrument to perpetrate crime and other criminal activities in various parts of the country.
He, however, condoled with the family members of those lost their loved ones during the fracas, and all those that gruesomely murdered by the dreaded Fulani herdsmen in different parts of the country.
