Guber poll: ‘How Ekiti can be turned to economic hub’

Ahead of the July 14 governorship election in Ekiti state, a leading aspirant under the platform of Action Democratic Party (ADP), Otunba Segun Adewale, has declared his mission to turn the state to an economic hub in Nigeria and Africa.

Adewale made the declaration on Wednesday at the ADP’s National Headquarters, Abuja, as he picked the party’s governorship nomination form, assuring the people of Ekiti state of an improvement to their standards if handed their mandate.

In a brief chat with journalists shortly after picking his nomination form as required by the electoral law of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Adewale who blamed poor leadership for the deplorable situation in Ekiti state, vowed to explore his vast experience to curb the ravaging poverty, political hegemony and under development facing the state.

Adewale, popularly referred as OSAPraPra by his admirers, expressed confidence that he will emerge the party’s flagbearer and be the first Governor the party will produce in Nigeria.

He highlighted his approach to tackle poverty in Ekiti with massive investment in Agriculture, Entrepreneurship, Tourism and other sectors when elected governor by the Ekiti people, expressing optimism that if Dubai that was a desert some years ago can become a world leading economy, Ekiti with a visionary leader like him can become economic hub of Nigeria and Africa.

Since joining ADP in late January to contest the governorship election, Adewale has warmed himself into the hearts of Ekiti indigenes, who continues to identify with his campaign in all parts of the state.

The Ipoti Ekiti-born politician has been able to register his name as an household name in Ekiti and has seen the stock of support base for ADP skyrocketed within a short period, as both the young and the old, now identifies with him and the party.

According to reports, Adewale has toured all the 16 local government in Ekiti to make his intention to run known to the people and reports from independent election monitoring group recently released put him ahead of any other aspirants in all other political parties in the state.
