Kano: What Emir told President Buhari
Kano state is undergoing intense political tension as the rerun for the state governorship draws closer. The Emir of Kano Lamido Sanusi had called on all political actors to maintain the peace and avoid unleashing violence on the state.
In pursuance of his peace moves ,the Emir was at the State House Abuja on Thursday night where he had a closed door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari. The Emir highly respected and loved by people of Kano made no remarks or issued any statement after the meeting. The State House also released no statement after the closed door meeting.
Top flight sources however revealed that the revered traditional ruler had simply urged Mr President to stay above the fray as the father of all actors in Kano and in all other states especially on the issue of re-run.
The Emir reportedly humbly pleaded with the President to stop anybody from using his name to commit atrocities before during and after the rerun polls.
Checks showed that the President’s body language confirmed his lack of interest for any presidential intervention in the forthcoming rerun.
The President was said to be wary of anything that will tarnish his reputation as a well loved politician in Kano state.
