Rivers: INEC Indicts Army…More Confusion over Guber Results
The Independent National Electoral Comission may have created further confusion over the Rivers state governorship election results going by the report of its fact finding panel.
The commission complicated the already tense situation in the state when it promises to release a detailed timetable for the conclusion of election results collation by Wednesday March 20th.
The report flayed the roles of army a d political thugs insisting that most collation were almost concluded before the disruption of the exercise by both spiliers a d thugs. In what appears like a rebuke of army’s role in the Rivers’ poll, the comission expressed displeasure at the military’s conduct ,blaming the security forces for the stalemate.
INEC noted that results from 17 of the 23 local governments are ready and that return for 21 out of the 32 state constituencies have been made before the disruption of the exercise.
The commission however did not list the 17 local governments which it claimed to have the results .Also the commission did not issue the list of state constituencies it said were already announced.
It however pledged to consult adequately with stakeholders in the state as well as security joint committee to commence the conclusion of the collation in the identified areas.
